KU INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH ETHICS COMMITTEE (IREC)
The Institutional Review Ethics Committee (IREC) of KU was formally elected to review, evaluate and decide on the ethical and scientific merits of the research protocols so as to guarantee the rights, safety, and protection of all individual research participants, community as well as researchers. The main goal of IREC reviews is to ensure that study participants are not harmed, or that harms are minimal and outweighed by research benefits. The committee applies research ethics by reviewing the methods proposed for research involving human subjects, to ensure that projects are ethical and to safeguard ethical conduct of research. The committee meets four times a year, and Schools, students or the public who want to apply for ethical clearance can readily access the information and instructions through the following links and downloads
