ADMISSIONS ANNOUNCEMENT FOR POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 

Kairuki University (KU) formally known as Hubert Kairuki Memorial University (HKMU), is an accredited University, recognized by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, through the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU).

Applications for admission are invited from qualified candidates wishing to pursue postgraduate studies at KU for the academic year 2025/2026 in the following programmes:

1. MASTER OF MEDICINE (MMeD):

Master of Medicine programme in the following specialties:

i) General Surgery

ii) Internal Medicine

iii) Obstetrics and Gynecology

iv) Paediatrics and Child Health

Eligibility for MMeD:

Doctor of Medicine or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree or equivalent, with at least ‘’B’’ grade in the respective discipline (Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgery or Paediatrics) or a minimum GPA of 2.7. In addition, a candidate MUST have completed one year of internship and registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika and should have minimum working experience of one year as a Medical Officer.

Duration of the programme: 3 years.

2. MASTER OF SCIENCE IN PUBLIC HEALTH (MScPH):

Eligibility for MScPH:

I. Holder of Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Environmental Health, Laboratory Technology and Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent, Bachelor of Science in Health Statistics, Health Economics, Epidemiology, Demography, Biology, Nutrition, Food Science and Health Information Sciences and related disciplines WITH an average of “B” or a minimum GPA of 2.7.

II. Working experience with communities in health-related field at district or higher level.

Duration of the programme: 18 months.

MODE OF APPLICATION All applications must be submitted online through the link osim.hkmu.ac.tz available at www.ku.ac.tz

To be considered for entrance an applicant must attach the following:

i. Proof of citizenship (including a copy of the birth certificate).

ii. Certified copies of relevant certificates including form four certificate, form six certificate, certificate and academic transcript of first degree, internship certificate and practicing license (where applicable). EAC and international applicants must be registered by their respective professional councils and attach a certificate of good standing.

iii. Applicants with foreign awards (form four, form six, first degree) must attach a certificate of recognition from the relevant authority (NECTA & TCU).

iv. An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae, letter from employer and two recommendation letters.

v. A short confidential report on every candidate must be made available covering the internship period performance in a relevant hospital and their performance in the field with relevant organizations after internship.

vi. Verification letter of sponsorship/scholarship.

vii. Transfer of students: Direct entry to the programme will be possible if a course of approved content has been taken from an approved and acceptable institution with relevant transferable credits. But in that case, careful scrutiny will be made and a confidential report from the institution where the candidate is transferring from will be required. Transferring candidates with a record of discontinuation on disciplinary grounds or failure of Part I Examinations will not be accepted at KU.

Successful applicants shall be required to submit original copies of certificates and transcripts for verification at the time of admission.

APPLICATION FEE

Application fee is TZS 50,000/= for Tanzanian applicants and EAC applicants US$ 50 for foreign applicants payable to the University. For local applicants this can be paid through Tigo Pesa, M-pesa, Airtel Money, CRDB Bank, or CRDB Wakala using a control number generated automatically when filling of personal particulars process. EAC applicants and International students should channel their payments through KU BOA Bank Account with details below.
